Questions & Answers
My hair seems really dry and brittle on the ends. Why is this and what can I do about it?
It is really important to make sure that you get your hair cut regularly - every 6 weeks. This will help maintain the strength and shape to your style. It is also important that you use the appropriate haircare products at home. Your OMG stylist will recommend the right product for your hair and type. Non salon products are often full of chemicals and agents that will strip your hair of nourishment and essential oils. Do you use straighteners on your hair? If you do, then you really MUST use a heat protection spray - such as Redken Iron Silk. This will lock in moisture and protect your hair from the heat - did you know that straighteners can reach a temperature of 175 celcius!
Why does my colour fade in my hair?
Using incorrect products on your hair can strip the hair of its colour and bright sunlight will also do this, so when you go on holiday you must protect your hair. Shampoos and conditioners that are specifically designed for coloured hair contain uv sun filters, antioxidants, vitamins, ion blockers and ceramide, which helps to shield. stabilise and secure your hairs vibrancy. OMG stock Redken Colour Extend and Wella Colour saver shampoos.
Why do I sometimes get ingrowing hairs?
Any type of hair removal runs the risk of ingrowing hair occurring. It is reported that waxing runs less of a risk than shaving, this is because with waxing the hair is removed from the root and weakens the subsequent hair growth, whereas shaving just blunts the hair underneath the skin. Therefore as it grows back it is thicker and not as able to push through the skin. There are some things you can do to help the situation. Keep your skin well moisturised, using a moisturiser that doesnt block your pores, exfoliate your skin regularly, this will help the hair grow out smoothly, and keep your skin really clean. And do not exercise until the day after waxing. OMG stock post wax cream which will definitely help the problem.
